New Childrens Book Helps Children Understand Peers Dealing with ADHD and Autism Spectrum; Benefits Charity
A children's book that deals with the serious issues of Autism, PDD, and ADHD. The soothing illustrations, soft tone and bright characters will leave your child with an open mind, and a light heart - one of compassion and understanding. 50% of royalties from this book go to "Autism Speaks."
St. Louis, MO, December 20, 2006 --(PR.COM)-- Have you ever encountered a child who acts differently, such as being bossy, screaming, disrespecting his parents, and asked yourself, why does this child behave like this? Is it uninformed parenting or something else altogether?
Parents and teachers alike will discover a helpful tool in dealing with these situations in the new childrens book entitled, Why Is He Different?
Why Is He Different is about a young boy in the 1st grade named Kyle who suffers from ADHD. Kyles unique qualities endear him to his classmates at times, and disturb them at others. The story is told through the eyes of his best friend, a compassionate young boy who despite knowing Kyles differences befriends him.
This book was inspired by Linda Fox, the mother of a boy whose life is very similar to that of the child in this story. Mrs. Foxs son endured much of the same misunderstandings and teasing that many children do who are diagnosed with conditions within the Autism Spectrum.
The storys purpose is to bring about awareness and provide a forum that will open up discussions and promote tolerance and acceptance of these children whose disabilities may not be understood by school-age children. The publishing team for this book have pledged to give 50 percent of all royalties to go to an organization called Autism Speaks. A group dedicated to funding global biomedical research into the causes, prevention, treatments, and cure for autism; to raising public awareness about autism and its effects on individuals, families, and society; and to bringing hope to all who deal with the hardships of this disorder.
According to the Autism Speaks website, "Autism Speaks brings the autism community together as one strong voice to urge the government and private sector to listen to our concerns and take action to address this urgent global health crisis. It is our firm belief that, working together, we will find the missing pieces of the puzzle."
This book will be available in major bookstores very soon, but advance copies may be purchased from Athse Publishing or from their distributor Lulu.com
